[English]

Abstract
Background: The prevalence of diabetes is higher among the sedentary and obese population than others. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of silymarin and pilates training on anthropometric indices, blood sugar and some liver enzymes in diabetic Women with Obesity.
Methods: In this semi-experimental study, sixty diabetic women with obesity (55-65 years with body mass index over 30) were selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into four groups: placebo, silymarin supplementation, Pilates training, silymarin supplementation + Pilates training. The supplement groups received pills containing 140 mg of silymarin extract three times daily after each meal. The experimental group participated in Pilates training program for 12 weeks, three sessions per week, one hour each session. Data were analyzed using 2-factor analysis of covariance (supplement-exercise) at the P <0.05.
Results: The results showed that silymarin supplementation significantly improved FBS, HbA1C and WHR. Pilates training significantly improved BMI, body fat mass, FBS, HbA1C and WHR. also, Silymarin consumption and Pilates exercise significantly improved HbA1c and ALT enzyme activity (p=0.001).
Conclusion: According to the results, it seems that silymarin consumption and Pilates training are effective in improving blood sugar and some liver enzymes in obese diabetic women. Therefore, it is recommended that these patients benefit from Pilates training with silymarin.
