Development the model of influencing factors on People Tendency to Bet on Football

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide a model of effective factors on people tendency to bet on football with emphasis on grand theory tethod. The current research was applied in terms of purpose and qualitative research with an exploratory approach. The method of data analysis was done by Strauss and Corbin method and data collection was done through deep and semi-structured interview. The statistical population of the research included professors of sports management, psychologists, sociologists, managers of the football federation, managers of sports teams, national or club coaches and players, executive staff of competitions, members of the media, the clergys and researchers, who used purposeful sampling method, 27 people were selected as the research sample until reaching theoretical saturation. The results showed that 562 codes extracted from theoretical sources and semi-structured interviews, 542 codes were approved by the Delphi group. Finally, it was determined that the final factors of the tendency to bet are in three categories of causal factors (personal, reference group), contextual factors (social-cultural, economic, legal) and intervening factors (marketing strategies, development of information technology infrastructure), factors The final betting addiction in four categories: financial incentives, marketing tricks, psycho-behavioral reactions, community reaction, the final consequences of betting in two categories of positive consequences (cultural-social, economic, personal, sports) and negative consequences (cultural-social, economic, personal, sports) and the final solutions to deal with betting were categorized into five categories: improving the economic situation, amending laws, providing alternative options, social work services, supervision and control, information and education. In general, it is suggested to prevent people from betting on football with the following methods: enlightening about the nature and mechanism of betting sites, raising awareness about social, economic, sports and personal harms, creating employment, planning for leisure time. and providing alternative options, And in the next step, social work services such as providing counseling to the involved people and passing preventive laws should be taken into consideration.
