Presenting a sport development model of Fars Province with Human development approach of Amartya Sen

Abstract

This research aims to identify the components of Human Development in Sport and the model of Fars Province sport development based on this theory of Amartya Sen. This is a practical research and the statistical population in qualitative phase is consisted of sport and human development experts and professors chosen with purposive selection, snowball sampling method which started with 10 researchers and continued to 20 till theoretical saturation according to Creswell method. In quantitative section informed experts were chosen such as physical education professors, Fars sport managers, experts of sport in other related sections of Fars from public, private, cooperative and civil sectors. Using coding method, 122 codes were extracted from the questionnaire resulted in fundamental interview and classified into 32 indicators and 4 components according to experts’ opinions. The results show that the final model of Fars sport development based on Human development theory consisted of for components: 1) human development concepts in sport with 7 indicators, 2) supportive capabilities with 10 indicators 3) processes and procedures with 8 indicators and 4) fundamental capabilities and infrastructures with 7 indicators. The factors were ranked through AHP method and conceptual model of the research was obtained. The relations between variables and indicators were investigated using smart pls3 software and then the relation between the factors were investigated with structural equations. The findings show that human development theory is a good framework for sport development since it emphasizes on creating the opportunity for indication of human capabilities and reaching his best function.
