Designing a pattern of factors affecting the development of Iranian grassroots football

Abstract

Grassroots football is considered as one of the important pillars of player education, and also the main base of supporting adult teams in different age groups. Therefore, the study investigates into designing the model of effective factors on Iran`s Grassroots football development. The research methodology is qualitative and applicable, carried out through Strauss and Corbin`s method. Conducting semi-structured interviews up to reaching theoretical saturation (n = 20) were done. One hundred and twenty codes were extracted from the interview texts using MAXQDA software. Subsequently, by asking experts` opinions and checking the obtained codes, thirty-two repetitive and unique codes were selected. Accordingly, through open and axial coding, results indicated thirty two conceptual codes and six cases as facilities and equipment, infrastructure, safety, hygiene, standardization, and accessibility are structural factors; four cases as planning, organizing, communicating, and also monitoring and evaluating are management factors; as well, six cases as psychology, individual characteristics, culture, manners, trainers` knowledge, and Grassroots football manager are human factors affecting basic football development
