Exploring the process of improving the quality of student sports in Iran

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to design a model for improving the quality of student sports in Iran. The research method is analytical, for this purpose qualitative methodology was used. The research strategy was to use the theory arising from the data. The participants in the research included 16 people, including a group of experts with academic teaching experience or student sports activists, experts and officials of student sports, physical education teachers, sports planners, policy makers and knowledge advisors. They were educational. Content analysis of interviews and coding were used to analyze the data. The research tool was open interview and the results were analyzed based on three stages of open, central and selective coding. The findings showed that the lack of necessary space, weakness in physical indicators, the importance of student sports were the causal factors. The background factors were not included in the primary priorities of physical education in education, infrastructure, safety and security of school sports spaces and equipment, the existence of laws and regulations. Intervening factors included internal barriers, external barriers, and structural barriers. The identified strategies included increasing the productivity of school spaces, dynamic school design, changing the attitude of managers, increasing credibility in different sectors, providing income generating platforms, and finally, the results of this research include improving the health index in the society, developing spaces and facilities. School sports was the development of four levels of educational sports.
