Abstract
This study aimed to explore the components of independence and freedom within physical education and sports, as derived from the Second Step of the Revolution Statement in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It was qualitative in terms of type of data used. Data were collected through a documentary analysis of 14 relevant domestic and foreign studies and semi-structured interviews with 19 experts in sports management, including political and executive sports officials, and university faculty members. Participants were selected via a non-random, purposive sampling method until theoretical saturation was achieved. The data were analyzed using thematic network analysis, following the approach of Attride-Stirling (2001). The results identified three primary thematic areas affecting the realization of independence and freedom in this context: Security, Youthfulness, and Sustainability & Endurance. These areas comprised 50 basic themes in total. Based on these findings, the study concludes that the dimensions of independence and freedom in sports should be formally articulated based on the theories of the Imam and the Leadership. Furthermore, it is recommended that the training of physical education and sports professors in universities incorporate a focus on the ideals and teachings of the revolution.
