Despite a relative increase in medal achievements and the strong capacity of Paralympic athletes to generate symbolic, social, and even economic capital, this field still faces significant challenges in achieving sustainable, coherent, and repeatable success, and a considerable portion of its accomplishments have been driven by individual efforts. Accordingly, this study was conducted with the aim of developing a paradigmatic framework tailored to the unique conditions of Paralympic sport in Iran to enhance medal-winning opportunities and performance sustainability. The present research was exploratory in purpose and grounded in approach. To construct the conceptual model of the study, the grounded theory method, following the Strauss and Corbin approach, was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 18 elite Paralympic athletes, coaches, managers, and experts, using purposive and theoretical sampling. The credibility of the findings was assessed through data triangulation, prolonged engagement in the field, and member checking. The findings showed that, based on the qualitative analysis of interview data, 308 open codes were identified and organized into five major dimensions: causal conditions (3 categories), contextual conditions (6 categories), intervening conditions (2 categories), strategies (4 categories), and consequences (2 categories), which together contribute to the enhancement of medal-winning opportunities for Paralympic athletes. Finally, by developing and presenting its paradigmatic model, this study identified and explained the key factors influencing the improvement of medal-winning opportunities for Iranian Paralympic athletes and emphasized the need for coordinated governance, investment in infrastructure, and supportive networks. The theoretical insights derived from this study may serve as a guide for policymakers and stakeholders in Paralympic sport.
